The research team from the Geoseismal Research Center, under the supervision of the Geophysics Laboratory of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), continues to affirm its presence on the international stage. The team has been selected to participate as presenters at the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) 2025, a prestigious scientific conference in the field of geosciences, held from July 27 to August 1, 2025, at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
More than 500 scientists from around the world gathered to exchange ideas and discuss strategic issues in earth sciences. On this occasion, UGM was represented by Theodosius Marwan Irnaka, who was invited to deliver an oral presentation titled “Preliminary Application of Probability Tomography for UAV-based Aeromagnetic Data in Sumber Geothermal Field.”
In addition to the oral presentation, the UGM Geophysics team also showcased three innovations in the form of scientific posters. Galang Ridha Allatief presented his research on “IoT System Implementation on Geophysical Survey for Self-Potential Real-time Monitoring.” Adil Wirawan Anendito contributed with the topic “Instrument Development with Remote Monitoring for Electrical Enhanced Oil Recovery Technology.” Meanwhile, Aurum Datametriana exhibited a poster titled “Urban Noise Identification Using Polarization of Ambient Noise: A Case Study on Mining Area, High Traffic Density of Highway, and Active Oil Well with Rod Pump.”

AOGS is an international organization that facilitates collaboration among scientists in the Asia and Oceania region in the fields of geosciences and space sciences. This year’s conference adopted the theme “Peace with Nature”, emphasizing the importance of a harmonious relationship between earth sciences and environmental sustainability for future development.
UGM’s participation in this forum not only strengthens its international networks but also highlights its active contribution in developing scientific solutions to global challenges such as disaster mitigation, climate change, and natural resource exploration.

Looking ahead, AOGS 2026 is scheduled to take place from August 2 to 7, 2026, at the Fukuoka International Congress Center and Marine Messe Fukuoka B Hall, Japan. The upcoming event will continue to advance strategic discussions in geosciences, covering topics such as climate change, soil science, disaster risk reduction, and environmental dynamics.
